Saskatchewan Crescent Terraces
For this project we teamed up with City Gardens to give this yard an updated look. Our planting plan will fill in as the years progress to really show off the mass block plantings of grasses, bright shrubs and evergreens.
Saskatchewan Crescent Refresh
Saskatchewan Crescent is known for its beautiful homes and lush landscapes. After wrapping up a custom renovation on their home, our clients asked us to revive the landscaping that had been home to the construction zone.
Rosewood Oasis
The challenge was formidable. How to make this space, which is surrounded by a park on two sides plus a busy roadway and sidewalk on one side, feel cosy and secluded. It will take time for the trees and shrubs to establish but as they do this space will cocoon itself into the secret garden we were aiming for.
Caswell Hill Vintage
We feel incredibly fortunate when clients trust us to transform their private outdoor spaces—places where memories with family and friends will blossom. These clients, originally from New York, wanted to infuse their yard with a classic New England charm through timeless brickwork. The design needed to balance functionality with atmosphere: a dining area for hosting, a cozy fire pit for gathering, and meandering pathways to encourage exploration—all while softening the property’s original linear layout. The talented Dillan of Brick by Brick YXE brought warmth to the space with Unilock’s Town Hall Pavers in Old Oak, while Travis from Lost River Timber expertly reshaped the terrain. The crowning touch? Brandon of Black Crow Carpentry crafted a stunning custom deck that seamlessly connects the home to this inviting new retreat.
Saskatchewan Crescent European Escape
It is always such a pleasure to work with clients updating their existing landscaping. For this project we teamed up with City Gardens to give this yard an updated look. Our planting plan will fill in as the years progress to really show off the mass block plantings of grasses, bright shrubs and evergreens.
Broadway Low Maintenance
It's always rewarding to refresh existing landscapes, and this collaboration with City Gardens was no exception! We revitalized the space with lush block plantings of grasses, vibrant shrubs, and evergreens that will mature beautifully over time. To ensure thriving growth, we enriched the soil with fresh compost and mulch, while Chris Irrigation installed a precise automated system—because nothing beats efficient, tailored watering for a truly low-maintenance yard. Trust us, investing in smart irrigation makes all the difference!
Briarwood Curb Appeal
We love when clients reach out with the specific request to bring native plants into their yard to support the local insect population! We knew we wanted to build something close up to the front of the house and bring some height to a completely flat front yard.
Lawson Heights Prairie Perennials
Transforming lawns into lush, productive gardens is our passion! When these clients dreamed of a front yard bursting with Echinacea and fruiting shrubs—inspired by their neighbor's pollinator paradise—we couldn't wait to help. This vibrant space (now a butterfly-filled sanctuary!) isn’t low-maintenance, but the weeding and pruning become joyful moments surrounded by color and life. We even tucked in a cozy seating nook so they can savor morning coffees and evening visits from their winged guests.
Lakeview Refresh
Can you tell I love Catmint and Tufted Hair Grass? After years of maintaining these clients' shrubs, I was thrilled to redesign their front beds using native plants I'd been saving for the perfect project – Wild Prairie Onion, grasses (was it Prairie Dropseed or Tufted Hair?), and bold Hydrangeas now soften the porch beautifully. The beds have exploded with color, texture, and buzzing pollinators all summer! It's been so rewarding to watch this Saskatoon garden thrive and to continue caring for such a vibrant space.
Grosvenor Park
This long, sloped yard presented the perfect design challenge! We leveled the entrance with a deck, then let the grade gradually descend, using the client's salvaged bricks to create a charming pathway that connects all the garden zones. Kichler Lighting highlights the walkway, while native grasses soften its edges, and a hybrid Muckle Plum (the ideal ornamental tree for the space) anchors the design. I'm thrilled with how it turned out and can't wait to watch it mature!
Greystone Heights Mid Century
It’s incredibly rewarding when a client’s vision aligns perfectly with your design approach—especially in a spacious front yard like this! We struck gold during our boulder hunt, landing a massive limestone slab that anchored the space beautifully, complemented by native Blue Grama Grass softening the scattered stones. The homeowners’ existing Hostas and evergreen shrubs found a new life here, and while the plants may be small now, the borders will soon grow into a lush, private retreat. A huge thanks to Dillan from Brick by Brick YXE for expertly handling the grading, boulder placement, and irrigation—be sure to check out his website to see the stunning brickwork he added to this project too!
Nutana Shade Garden
Shady gardens are a designer’s delight, and this spruce-canopied retreat was pure inspiration! We layered Hostas, Creeping Jenny, and Glow Girl Spirea for luminous color, paired with river stones and fir mulch for texture. The result? A cool, enchanting oasis (and a fantastic new client connection) that even left me dreaming of my own shady getaway!
Grasswood Estates Prairie Perennials
When Grasswood Estates clients asked us to rescue their failing terrace garden, we discovered beds packed with clay and gravel—hardly a recipe for growth! After a heroic excavation (by the clients themselves!), we replenished the soil and crafted a “mountain meadow” with wildflowers, boulders, and hardy shrubs. Now, this country retreat feels as alive as the landscape around it.
King George Outdoorsman
When I met my former boreal forest ranger client in 2018, we instantly connected over our shared love of wild spaces. Her yard became a reflection of her adventurous spirit - blending Mid-Century Modern style with natural elements from her travels, like collected stones and antler sheds. Our builder nailed the MCM-inspired deck that anchors the space, while native plants like Anise Hyssop and High Bush Cranberry mingle with Russian Sage and Catmint in that wonderfully unruly way she loves. Seeing the honeysuckle spilling over the pergola this summer filled me with joy, and I can't wait to return after three years to help shape the next phase of this ever-evolving, deeply personal landscape.
Churchill Low Maintenance
Tired of mowing and craving more curb appeal, our clients transformed their all-lawn front yard into a striking, low-maintenance landscape. Partnering with Lost River Timber, we framed the space with rugged timbers that complement the natural slope, then kept the planting scheme simple yet impactful with year-round structural interest. The catmint lining the front path steals the show each summer, buzzing with bees for weeks—a sight that brings our clients endless delight! Next time you’re driving through Clarence Avenue, keep an eye out for this standout redesign.
Silverspring Prairie Perennials
In recent years, we’ve seen a growing shift from traditional lawns to vibrant, eco-friendly gardens—and this stunning pollination station is a perfect example! Our clients had already begun transforming their yard but wanted a cohesive design to bring their vision to life. Partnering with them, we created a lush, pollinator-friendly oasis framed by a beautiful Roman-style courtyard wall (expertly crafted by Dillan Dierichs!). As the perennials mature, the space will evolve into a dreamy, Piet Ouldolf-inspired meadow, buzzing with life. With over 60 butterfly species and 100 native bees in our area, this garden isn’t just a retreat for the homeowners—it’s a vital haven for local wildlife, proving that beauty and biodiversity go hand in hand.
