When we first stepped foot in this yard for the design consultation, the majority of the backyard was dominated by a slope that effectively bisected the space, creating a somewhat functional lawn area and a less functional lower area that was underutilized.
Our goal was to level out the space and create a larger, more functional lawn with room for raised veggie beds that could sit in the sunniest spot for the best vegetable production.
With a couple of built-in retaining walls, we accomplished that goal. The yard is now more open and easier to navigate, without a slope sending you veering toward the fence.
Brick by Brick also lifted and re-laid the original patio to keep a consistent feeling of revitalization throughout the entire yard.
